Cool story.
Now I just need a reason to use spirits!

anet thought:
"Rit's use PWK a lot. NERF! decreased armour."

"Rit's still use PWK alot? NERF! increase recharge."
"Now stop using it."

You want to run minions?
Run a primary necro. At least that way you have access to a GOOD secondary line!

You want to run something good on your ritualist?
Run Splinter.

All sarcasm aside, what's everyone going to bring instead of PwK? I've finally started tinkering around with CwD.

The main harm in the nerf I see would be the recharge. Which is still over maintainable with about 8 into Restoration, thus still giving a perma +10 armor while giving a good heal every 25 *instead of 15* seconds. The healing isn't as good as it was, but it is still plenty to give healers in the group a few seconds to heal anyone close to death.

PwK saved my party's arse a few times in Fort Ranik HM at just 6 restoration.

So I say it is still very good.

This is true. It is now a much more desired skill for Ritualists, even if you have one spirit.

My guess... is PwK.

Yeah, but everyone and their cousin runs Necros. They're broken, boring, and constantly being nerf-batted. They just haven't felt the same since Prophesies and their "50+ minion army, LAWLZ!"

Maybe I'll build one up when GW2 starts getting close-ish.

I haven't played support characters - warriors, ele's, etc interest me more. Recently though I've decided to look at the Rt, just cause they look cool and I don't mind casting spirits and weapon buffs so much.

So I just started an Rt this morning, then had to leave. I'm reading up right now, and I really wonder why I shouldn't pull out my necro and just change him to necro/rt. Spawning Power just doesn't seem to be that big of a deal to me, and many of the spawning skills just provide energy management, which is what points in soul reaping does anyways.

The armor's cool, but i'm not sure that's such a good reason to level up an entirely new character.

If they were smart, they would do something like limit the number of spirits based on your rank in spawning power. Probably lots of other ideas out there, i'm just saying I don't see much reason to pick an rt over a necro (or an ele or mesmer, for that matter).

I don't have a primary rit, but I tried it on my N/Rt. I was going to get her a 40/40 restoration set anyway, and the increased recharge pretty much gave me an even bigger reason to get that set. It really, really helps.

I know people who are saying the same thing about their rits - "I'll just use her as a mule and maybe try N/Rt instead." Me, I don't have the space for any more characters, and I'm not getting any motivation to try playing a primary Rit any time soon. =\

well months of complaining got us a NERF on PwK and a barely noticeable buff to summon spirits.

nothing to say really.

Fully agree, the buff in summon spirits potentially revives the spirits that loose health as Manatee says. not only by keeping them away from melee foes more effectively but also by extending their lifespan considerably.

However, considering the lack of interest by ANet to change/improve spawning power, the ritualist will soon become extinct, if not it already is.

WTS rare item ritualist q20, obsidian, maxed titles tier4 !!

Which elites caught your eye?
I've got a few builds in mind already but I'll let people post their ideas first.
Thanks anet for such a great update!
Nothing much happened to Ritualists in my opinion.

What comes to the elites.. Combining Summon Spirits+ Signet of Spirits+Spirit Boon Strike.. oh hai, long-lasting-health-losing-spirits ^^!

Spamming SSs with Serpent's Quickness or similar with some Communing spirits up like Shelter, Displacement and Union.. we have a nice energy issue here without Attuned Was Songkai etc.. and AWS would need spending something like 15 points in spawning power to be effective (-50%).. meh.

Bleh, I'll just go with the generic "spirits are bad after the nerf"-boat and not try to be any innovative..

I still use Summon Spirits to move my EoE/FS around Urgoz/VSF and PwK on my N/Rt heroes (even without a 40/40 set..)
On the other hand, Summon Spirits can be replaced witha non-pve skill like Draw Spirit if you have only one spirit with you. No need to leave that Pain Inverter home.
